How To Flat Iron Your Hair

You’d be surprised how many people tell me “I can’t get my hair as flat like you do”. Here is some tips to flat iron like a pro.

Tip #1 – Take thicker sections on the underneath part of your hair. This allows you not to get to tired where it counts (the top and front).

Tip #2 – Go on a semi fast pace with the flat iron. If you go to slow you will burn your hair causing it to feel dry and will create split ends faster. If you go to fast you won’t flatting the hair as well.

Tip #3 – Don’t go over the same spot more than twice. If you have to do that you may need to raise the temperature of the flat iron.

Tip #4 – If you want the hair to be “board straight” don’t angle the flat iron at the ends.

Tip #5 – Try to use a comb when flat ironing. This helps comb out any knots you may have before going over the hair. This also helps not to burn your fingers on your hair when it’s hot.

Tip #6 – Thin sections once you get to the top area. This may vary depending on how thick or thin your hair is.

Tip #7 – Pull the hair out to 90° and start at the root. This helps if you have curly or wavy hair.

I get asked frequently about the flat iron that I use in the salon. It is one of my favorites and have been using this brand for about 10 years. I have had only to replace it once (and that is because I dropped it to many times). It gives amazing shine, as an auto shut off  and beeps at me when it’s ready to be used. This flat iron that I used in this Facebook Live Video is called a GHD.
