3 Tips For Braiding

I am constantly asked about getting braids to look thicker than they come out. Here are my top 3 tips to getting a braid to look thick.

1. Use a texture iron on the area that you will be braiding the hair. A texture iron is a hot tool that crimps the hair. This causes the hair to plump up and look instantly bigger

2. Use a texture powder on the braid. This is a very fine powder that lightly floats onto the hair to give the hair grit (or a dirty feel). This helps the hair move and stay in place like you want.

3. Braid the hair with a light hand. Most of the time we want a tight braid but not when you want volume in a braid. Making it loose is done with a light hand that will help manipulate the braid to your liking.
